Pirates bracket Eagles in Redtail split

AVON, Ohio – Pirate Boys’ Golf earned a split with St. Edward – their second in a week – in a match at Redtail Golf Club on Thursday.

The Pirates lost to the Gold Eagles by one stroke, 160-161. River downed the Green Eagles, 161-181. The match closed out the regular season for Rocky River (28-5).

The Maroon & White were buoyed by the play of Aidan McDonald in their match on the 3,004-yard inward nine at Redtail. McDonald carded a 38 to lead the Pirates. He was joined on the team score sheet by Will Bennett (40), Ethan Mylett (41) and Carlo Fricano (42).

River also split with St. Edward on Sept. 19. 

The Pirates are now headed into postseason play. They will tee it up in sectional action on Tuesday.

 

CANNON FIRE …

A-MAC ATTACK: Aidan McDonald’s 38 on Thursday marked his third sub-40 round of the season in nine-hole matches. McDonald’s nine-hole average for the season was 41.1.

JV – J(USTMORE) VARSITY: The Rocky River JV squad closed out its season on Thursday with a 166-181 win over St. Edward at Big Met Golf Club. Matthew McDonald (38) and Nathan Robertson (39) paced the River effort. The junior varsity finished with a record of 11-4.
