SHEFFIELD, Ohio – Rocky River came up short in a hard-fought match against Brookside on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals defeated the Pirates, 42-36, despite the Wrestling Raiders earning seven wins on the night.
Seniors Matt Williams (8-1 decision), Mahdi Salti (win by fall) and Ergi Sulce (win by fall) led the way with victories on the mat. Freshman Mohammed Salti also earned a win on the mat – he won his bout, 9-2.
Williams’ victory at 106 pounds was his team-leading 26th of the season. The veteran grappler heads into the 2019-20 postseason with a mark of 26-8.
That postseason for Williams and the Pirates will get underway with the Great Lakes Conference Tournament on Saturday.
