Early surge lifts St. Joseph to 13-7 win over River

LORAIN, Ohio -- The Pirates were undone by runs of 6-1 and 5-1, as Rocky River lost to the St. Joseph Jaguars, 13-7, on Saturday.

In the contest at Lost Nation Park, the host Jaguars outscored the Pirates, 6-1, over the opening 13 minutes of play. River rallied with a 5-2 run of its own -- from the 12:34-mark to the 5:19-mark of the first half. But SJA landed the only goal in the final five minutes of the first half and then outscored the Pirates, 4-1, in the second.

Rocky River (10-4) got three goals from Grace Harte, two from Olivia Konopka, and two from Allie Kysela. Ella Nejad had two assists.

The Pirates are slated to close out Northern Ohio Lacrosse League play with a Monday contest at Brunswick.
