Gymnastics team finishes fifth at Berea-Midpark Meet

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio -- On Dec. 29, Rocky River Girls' Gymnastics continued its 2020-21 season in a meet hosted by Berea-Midpark High School.

 

The Pirates placed fifth in a field of eight squads in the meet held at X-treme Gymnastics. Rocky River tallied 54.5 points. Host Berea-Midpark won the event, prevailing in a three-way tussle at the top of the standings. The Titans scored 137.55 points, edging St. Joseph (134.55) and Magnificat (132.5).

 

Emma Maher paced the Pirate effort with a second-place finish in all-around scoring. Maher scored a 9.1 in the vault (second), an 8.25 in the bars (third), an 8.65 on the beam (third), and a 9.2 in the floor exercise (second). She notched an all-around score of 35.2.

 

The meet marked Rocky River's second of the season. The Pirates placed fourth in a meet hosted by Magnificat on Dec. 10.
