River races, routs, and ropes Rangers in GLC sweep

RR Swimming & Diving

LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Rocky River's Boys' and Girls' Swimming & Diving teams remained unbeaten in Great Lakes Conference waters, as the Pirates swept the Lakewood Rangers on Tuesday evening.

The Pirates swept a combined 24 events in the meet, and they took first, second, and third in nine of those events. The River boys' team won by a final score of 132-40; the Pirate girls defeated the Rangers, 142-35. 

Aidan Carter (100-yard butterfly, 100 backstroke) and Matthew Stankivicz (100 freestyle, 200 free) each won two individual events and were part of a winning relay. Michael Esdon was a part of all three first-place relays while also winning the 500 free.


Gianna Miller, Ella Russell, and Kate Tlapa each won two induvial events while competing in two winning relays. Miller took first in the 50 free and 500 free; Russell earned wins in the 100 fly and 100 back; Tlapa won the 100 free and 200 free. 


Rocky River is slated to return to the water on Jan. 13.
