RRCSD to Host Hidden in Plain Sight Town Hall Meeting on March 21
January 23, 2023

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – The Rocky River City School District is hosting a Hidden in Plain Sight Town Hall Meeting on March 21 beginning at 6:30pm in the Rocky River Middle School (RRMS) Commons.

The meeting aims to bring awareness to parents and guardians about the signs of drug and alcohol use and other risky behaviors in teens.

RRMS School Resource Office and D.A.R.E. Officer Chris Camp will recreate a mock teenager’s bedroom complete with areas to hide drugs and alcohol that parents and guardians will be able to walk through. The display will look like a typical bedroom, but will contain several items that could be used as drug paraphernalia, as well as hiding places for drugs and alcohol.

Parents and guardians will be given 15-20 minutes to walk through the bedroom and spot as many hidden items as they can find. Officer Camp will follow with a presentation to show what items were missed in the mock bedroom, go over current alcohol and drug trends, and share materials and resources about how to seek assistance and support.

Parents/guardians are also encouraged to Save the Date of September 27, 2023, for a Town Hall titled Behind Their Screens: What Teens Are Facing - and How Adults Can Support Them. That event begins at 7:00pm in the Professional Development Center at the Board of Education building.
