Two RRMS Students Recognized at OMLA Breakfast of Champions

March 14, 2023

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – The Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) Northeast Region recently held its annual Breakfast of Champions to honor student leaders from the area who display the characteristics of leadership, scholarship, service and character. Rocky River Middle School had two eighth grader students – Rayaan Khalil and Maeve Sheridan – recognized during the program.

Khalil was nominated by RRMS science teacher Ms. Marie Grano, who noted that Rayaan is a hard-working and charismatic student who is seen as a leader amongst his peers because of his positive and vibrant personality. He leads by example each day by welcoming challenges rather than dismissing them. Rayaan is also a perceptive student who asks probing questions during class that advance the discussion and his teachers and peers appreciate his warm smile and sense of humor.

Sheridan was nominated by RRMS Social Studies teacher Mr. Mark Saksa, who stated that Maeve is a respectful, reliable and perceptive student who has selflessly led others throughout her time at RRMS. Through academics, athletics, volunteering, student council or student interactions, Maeve transcends personalities to promote a positive atmosphere. She leads by example and works to be her best and to find the best in others. Maeve models character, kindness and a genuine heart to classmates and staff as she seeks to serve and encourage others in a positive manner.

Congratulations to Rayaan and Maeve!
