RRMS Holds Annual Spelling Bee

November 22, 2022

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River Middle School held its annual Spelling Bee for all grade levels on Monday, November 21. After taking spelling tests in classes, a semifinal oral spelling test was the next step for the top spellers in each grade level. Finalists then came together for the final part of the Spelling Bee.

A total of 27 seventh and eighth grade students competed against each other for a chance to represent the District at the upcoming Scripps Regional Cuyahoga County Spelling Bee. Seventh grader Henry Galla was the overall winner, while classmate Chase Smalley was the overall runner-up.

Claudia Valente was the top eighth grade finisher.

The sixth grade Spelling Bee featured 22 competitors and was won by Hollie Tennant with Klerisa Kaceli as the runner-up.

The competition was extremely competitive at both events as students completed the entire list of school spelling bee words that are published by the Scripps National Spelling Bee before moving to an additional words list.

Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who participated.
