Games, Brains and Goldwood!
April 12, 2022

Our April theme at Goldwood Primary School is sportsmanship. Playing games is an important part of child development by helping to increase student participation, foster social and emotional learning, and motivate students to take risks. Additionally, playing games at home with your children helps teach and reinforce so many academic and social emotional skills…and it is FUN!

At Goldwood, Erin Pontikos has worked closely with Jeff Hammond and classroom teachers to talk about how to be a good sport when winning and losing.

This Thursday, Goldwood is having a Goldwood Gameapalooza from 2:00-3:00 PM.  Teachers and students will drop everything and play board games. With the help of RRHS Key Club student volunteers, students will have fun while practicing their academic skills.

A packet of information will also be sent home that highlights games and the academic skills they cover, a Goldwood Bingo Bash card, and directions on how to make your own Mancala game.

The Goldwood Bingo Bash will run from April 15-29. Students can complete the Bingo card by playing games at home and earn a prize in their classroom. Just return the Bingo card when completed to the classroom teacher.

Thursday, April 14th, is also our Cleveland Guardians Spirit Day to celebrate the baseball home opener. Students are encouraged to wear Cleveland Guardians gear or the Guardians colors of red, white and blue. Hats are ok too!
