ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Oct. 21, 2024) -- Since clocking a 1-1 draw against Bay Sept. 11, it has now been a dozen cases of rinse and repeat for the Double-R. Win a game, move on to the next one. That stretch reached game No. 12 Monday when Rocky River drubbed Holy Name 8-0 in DIII Northeast 6 District Tournament action.

The Pirates (18-0-1) allowed just one shot by the Green Wave (7-10-2) in earning their third straight shutout (11th of the season). A River offense paced by junior Addie Russell and senior Sophia Sindelar got its goals in bunches. The Checkered Buccaneers scored three first-half goals in an eight-minute span (from the 11th-19th minutes) and four goals in a seven-minute stretch in the second period (41st through 47th). And now over its last five matches, River has outscored three regular-season and two postseason foes by a combined 38-1 margin.

On Monday at Rocky River Stadium, Russell scored two goals while filing four assists. Sindelar bagged three goals and two assists. The balance of the Pirates' scoring came from Morgan Burnett (2A), Natalie Crompton (1A), Charlotte Dean (1A), Grace Quaiser (2G, 1A), and Rori Vesy (1G, 1A).

With her trio of goals against DIII Region 11 30th-seeded Holy Name, Sindelar has now scored three-plus goals in six straight matches. She has scored 47 goals this fall.

The contest marked the home-field finale for a Rocky River squad that ledgered an 11-0 mark on Detroit Road.

The second-seeded-in-DIII-Region 11 Pirates now move on to a neutral-site Northeast 6 Tournament title game against No. 19 Mansfield Madison. The Pirates and Rams will tussle in a 7 p.m. Saturday game at Brooklyn Stadium in Brooklyn.
