AMHERST, Ohio -- Rocky River opened its 2021 season Thursday with a 0-0 draw at Amherst Steele.
The Pirates (0-0-1) put seven shots on goal to the Comets' five. River's Will DeClerck (five saves) and Kyle Dumais (seven) were up the task of keeping the nets unsullied throughout.
The tie marked Rocky River's first in a season opener since 2010 (Aug. 24 at Kenston).
The Pirates are slated to play at Lutheran West Saturday at 5 p.m.
