ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- The Pirates went 2-1 in a home-court quad match Saturday. Rocky River defeated Cuyahoga Heights, 2-0, and downed Berea-Midpark by the same score. River fell to Findlay, 2-1.
Rocky River (11-10) downed Cuyahoga Heights, 25-12, 25-18. The Pirates were involved in closer battles against Berea-Midpark (25-21, 25-17) and Findlay (17-25, 25-17, 20-25). With the 2-1 day, the Double-R is now 4-2 over its last six matches.
Over the combined seven sets, Rocky River hit .167. The Pirates got standout performances by Samantha Young (23 kills), Paige Waite (15 kills, seven aces), Estella Giomini (65 assists, 21 digs), Maggie Pfahl (39 digs against just four dig errors), and Clare Duffy (six aces).
