Rockets pull rank, as River falls, 4-0
RR Boys' Soccer

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River ran into a buzz saw Wednesday night. The Pirates fell to the undefeated and No. 1-ranked (DII, Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association) Bay Rockets, 4-0, on a humid evening at Rocky River Stadium.

The Great Lakes Conference tussle was delayed for 35 minutes by inclement weather. After getting things underway, the Pirates and Rockets were scoreless until midway through the first half when Aidan Bozak finished on a Matt Decapua corner. Bay (7-0, 3-0 GLC) would get one more netfinder (Kyle Cusimano from Conner Bozak) before the end of the opening period.

The high-scoring Rockets upped their lead to 3-0 on Cusimano’s second of the night. Bay goalkeeper Nolan Sooy denied a River penalty kick midway through the second, and the Rockets got a Danny Kruzer marker to round out the scoring for the match.

Bay has now scored 35 goals in seven games.

Rocky River (4-3-1, 2-2) has scored just three goals over its last four games against the Rockets. The Pirates have now been held scoreless in three matches this season; they are 0-2-1 over those three contests.

The Sons of Blackbeard are slated to return to action with a Saturday afternoon road match at Holy Name (3 p.m.).
