ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River Middle School eighth grader Anna Rouphail and seventh grader Dan Capka were were honored on Wednesday morning at the Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) Breakfast of Champions that took place at the Independence Civic Center.

The event honors students for their outstanding leadership, scholarship, character and service, as well as making a difference on the culture at their school. Students are nominated by teachers and staff to be selected for this honor.

At the breakfast, the emcee noted that any student would be lucky to have Capka in the classroom as he greets each of his teachers with a hello everyday and leaves each day by saying thank you when he walks out the door. He is a role model for his peers by displaying kindness, respect and a sense of humor. Capka is involved in a wide variety of activities, including band, choir, student council, basketball, cross country, track and baseball and also serves as a representative for his grade in the West Shore Young Leaders Organization.

It was noted that Rouphail is an extremely enthusiastic and conscientious student with an outstanding work ethic. She is involved in numerous activities, including band, choir, morning announcement crew, Destination Imagination, musical, student council, stage crew for the talent show, cross country and track and also assists with Team Unify. She has spearheaded several service learning projects at RRMS.
