MEDINA, Ohio – Rocky River’s play was decent at times but somewhat undone by unforced errors on a day that saw the Pirates place 17th in a field of 18 teams in Wednesday’s Walker Jones Classic cohosted by Medina and Walsh high schools.

That’s the way Head Coach David Hendrickson assessed River’s performance at Shale Creek Golf Club on Wednesday. “It was definitely a stacked field,” said Hendrickson, “so the margin for error was slim. We’ll be stronger as a team when we can better manage errors into bogeys and not doubles and triples.”

According to Hendrickson the trouble the Pirates encountered was mostly early round. “In that respect, some guys rallied and that was good to see.”

The best card for the Men in Maroon was turned in by sophomore Carlo Fricano, who fired a 7-over 79. River’s other three counting scores were posted by Ethan Mylett, who carded a season-best 82, Mac Milenius (84) and Will Bennett (87). Individual highlights included a pair of birdies on Mylett’s score card (fifth, 15th holes) and an eagle posted by Milenius – on a 114-yard approach on the par-4 13th. Milenius also birdied the par-4 first.
