Beach School
  • The preschoolers enjoyed their first monthly story time of the year from the Rocky River Public Library.
  • The RRECC held their first family involvement day at Hillcrest Apple Orchard.
  • Students will celebrate Halloween with a party and costume parade on Oct. 31.

Goldwood Primary School

  • Goldwood will begin an after-school French program for Grade 2 students. The classes will be taught by Rocky River French teachers and meet on Tuesdays for 23 weeks, beginning on Oct. 16.
  • The Goldwood RRECPTA Halloween Party will take place on Oct. 20 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm in the Goldwood Room.
  • Goldwood will take part in Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 22-26. The theme for this year’s event is “Life Is Your Journey, Travel Drug Free.™”

Kensington Intermediate School

  • Students at KIS created a Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Video, which can be viewed here.
  • KIS will take part in National Walk to School Day on Oct. 10.
  • Kensington will begin an after-school Spanish program which will be taught by the Cleveland Spanish Academy. It will meet on Tuesdays for 23 weeks with the first meeting on Oct. 16.
  • The Kensington PTA will host a Fall Food Drive from Oct. 22-26.
  • Spooky Saturday - a PTA Fun Day at Kensington - will take place from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm on Oct. 20.
  • There will be a Parent Coffee Talk with George Lichman on Internet and Cell Phone Safety on Oct. 23 at 9:00 am in the cafeteria/commons.

Rocky River Middle School

  • VIDEO: View the feature of School Resource Officer Matt Blazer who is in his first year with the district.
  • RRMS will host a new student party on Oct. 3 at 3:30 pm for all first year students at the school.
  • RRMS will participate in National Walk to School Day on Oct. 10.
  • Science teacher Chandra Juhasz was named an Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month for September.
  • Sixty RRMS students will study the Lake Erie ecosystem in a hands-on, college-level setting at Ohio State’s Stone Lab from Oct. 10-11, which is located on Gibralter Island in Put-in-Bay’s South Bass Harbor.
  • Talent show rehearsals will take place on Oct. 8, 16 and 24. The Talent Show is on Oct. 25 at 7:00 pm.

Rocky River High School

  • RRHS was the WQAL - Q104 “High School of the Week” for the week of Sept. 17.
  • Four students from RRHS - Jacob Cain, Alexandra Gluntz, Ava Rauser and Charlotte Weixel - were named National Merit Semifinalists.The quartet will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards that will be offered in the spring.
  • A total of 11 students were recognized as National Merit Commended students, including Elizabeth Douglas, Phoebe Dunn, Catherine Durkin, Thomas Kelly, John McDonough, Cameron Morris, Ryan O’Donnell, Joshua Olson, Alexandra Ruffus, Justin Smith and Rachel Solecki.
  • The RRHS Marching Band will perform live on the Fox 8 Morning Show on Oct. 5. The band will play at various times between 7:00-9:00 am.
  • The fall choir concert will take place on Oct. 18 at 7:00 pm. The marching band concert is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 7:00 pm.

Rocky River City School District

  • The Rocky River City School District earned an overall grade of an ‘A’ on this year’s Ohio School Report Card. 
  • Rocky River was one of just 28 districts in the state to earn an ‘A’ this year, while all four schools in the district - Goldwood, Kensington, RRMS and RRHS - earned an overall grade of ‘A’ on the report card.
  • Rocky River was the only district in the state to earn an overall grade of an ‘A’ and have every building in the district earn an ‘A’.
  • The RRCSD will host a Town Hall Meeting on School Safety and Security on Oct. 11 at 7:00 pm at the Board of Education Professional Development Center.
