Rocky River Early Childhood Center
  • The Fall Family Feast - a family involvement activity - is scheduled to take place on Nov. 20.

Goldwood Primary School

  • An after-school French program began at Goldwood on Oct. 16. A total of 40 second graders signed up for the 23-week course which is being taught by Allison Dybowski, a French teacher at Rocky River Middle School, and Elizabeth Trifon, a French teacher at Rocky River HS.
  • Grade 2 students will take a field trip to Hale Farm and Village on Nov. 2 to study what life was like in the 1850’s.
  • The Kindergarten Community Helpers program will welcome Mr. Baruxes on Veteran’s Day to talk with the classes. Mr. Baruxes was a member of the US Army Rangers.
  • The Goldwood PTA Book Fair is scheduled for Nov. 14-15 in the Goldwood Room.

Kensington Intermediate School

  • An after-school Spanish program began at KIS on Oct. 16. Fifty-six students are participating in four classes. run by the Cleveland Spanish Academy.
  • The annual Grade 4 Camp Fitch experience will take place from Nov. 14-16. The YMCA camp in Pennsylvania has hosted KIS students each fall for almost 20 years.
  • All Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Contest cards are due in the main office by Nov. 12. All entries will be mailed out together before the Nov. 16 deadline.
  • The Kensington PTA Book Fair will take place from Nov. 26-30.
  • The PTA will host a Donuts with Dad breakfast on Nov. 29 at 7:30am.

Rocky River Middle School

  • The 7th grade Manners Dinner - led by The Cleveland School of Etiquette and hosted by the PTA - will be held on Nov. 1 at Westwood CC. The fun and educational event allows students to socialize in an elegant setting and learn life-long skills.
  • The PTA Mixed Bags Fall Fundraiser will continue through Dec. 31 with online orders. Family and friends can order online at www.mixedbagsdesigns.com. Click on “Shop to Support a Cause” and enter ID #70551 at checkout to give RRMS credit for the sale.
  • The RRMS Student Council will conduct a food drive from Nov. 12-16.
  • RRMS will take part in “Right to Read Week” from Nov. 26-30.
  • The 8th grade Fitness Trip is scheduled for May 15-17. The first step in being eligible for this trip is to turn in a one page paper on the importance of fitness by December 1 to Mr. Harris, Mr. Fowler or Mrs. Fougerousse.

Rocky River High School

  • There is a Junior Career and College Planning Meeting for parents on Nov. 6 at 7:00pm in the auditorium.
  • The Drama Club will attend a Careers in the Performing Arts seminar with the cast and crew of Les Miserables at Playhouse Square on Nov. 6.
  • The Drama Department’s fall play - Rehearsal for Murder - will take place on November 16-17 in the auditorium. The play begins at 7:00pm both nights.
  • For the third straight year, Mrs. Richardson and members of the RRHS Key Club are creating a “Veteran’s Day” wall to honor the men and women who have served in the military.
  • The girls tennis, boys and girls golf, boys and girls soccer and girls cross country teams all won conference championships this fall and the football team qualified for the playoffs for the sixth time in program history.
  • A special thank you to the Rauser family for donating 200 tickets to the senior class for the Cleveland Cavaliers game on Feb. 25 at 7:00pm against the Portland Trail Blazers. Seniors can see Mrs. Omahen in the athletics and activities office for a permission slip and ticket information.

Rocky River City School District

  • Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on November 8-9 and there will be no school for students on either of these days. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have not already signed up for a conference. 
  • All schools in the district will be closed on November 21, 22 & 23 for Thanksgiving break. Classes will resume on November 26.
