Rocky River Early Childhood Center
  • The RRECC is kicking off the 2019 calendar year with a Tubes and Tunnel Study and will have a Teddy Bear Day on Jan. 7.
  • Peer Screening for 2019-2020 Beach preschool students takes place on Jan. 11.
  • The next Family Involvement Day is on Feb. 8 at Skyzone.

Goldwood Primary School

  • GPS will celebrate Heritage Week from Jan. 22-25.
  • Kindergarten Information Night is scheduled for Jan. 31 at 5:30pm. Information about registration and the kindergarten program will be shared.

Kensington Intermediate School

  • KIS will hold Talent Show Tryouts after school at 2:45pm for Grade 3 (Jan. 7), Grade 4 (Jan. 8) and Grade 5 (Jan. 9). The Talent Show takes place on Feb. 8-9 at RRHS.
  • The 3rd Grade KIS Music Concert takes place on Jan. 17 at 7:00pm in the RRHS auditorium.
  • All parents of 5th grade students are invited to attend a Scheduling Meeting for the 2019-2020 year on Jan. 30 at 7:00pm at RRMS.

Rocky River Middle School

  • Three RRMS students combined to receive 11 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards that were presented by the Cleveland Institute of Art. Paige Kurtz and Morgan Way earned four awards each, while Grace Hubbard received three awards.
  • Yearbook cover design entries are due in a large envelope to Mrs. Annechino in room B-108 by Jan. 24. Please include your name on the envelope. There will be a school-wide vote the following week to choose the winner of the contest.
  • The Rocky River Middle School PTA is hosting 6th Grade Social Dance Classes. The classes run on Jan. 11 (7:00-8:00pm), Jan. 25 (7:00-9:00pm) and Feb. 1 (5:30-7:00pm). Dick Blake Ballroom Dance and Etiquette designs and teaches the course.

Rocky River High School

  • RRHS is hosting a Show Choir Festival on Jan. 28 at 7:00pm in the auditorium. The festival will feature choirs from five schools, as well as special appearances from a pair of a cappella groups.
  • There will be a Parent Kick-off Meeting for this year’s Senior Show on Jan. 23 at 7:00pm in the RRHS auditorium. All parents with students in the Class of 2019 are encouraged to attend to get more information about the event and sign up for skits.
  • Congratulations to the RRHS football team who was named an Academic All-Ohio team for this season after ranking second overall in State of Ohio for highest team grade point average.

Rocky River City School District

  • All schools in the District are closed on Jan. 18 for a Teacher Record Day and on Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day.
  • The RRCSD was one of just 28 districts in the state to receive the Overall “A” Award from the State Board of Education for earning an “A” on the 2018 report card. In addition, Goldwood, Kensington, RRMS and RRHS also earned the Overall “A” Award from the State.
  • The RRCSD State of the Schools Luncheon and Presentation from Superintendent Dr. Michael Shoaf takes place on Jan. 14 at 12:00pm at the Don Umerley Civic Center.
  • The RRCSD presents a Town Hall Winter Meeting on Feb. 25 with a screening of Angst at 7:00pm in the RRHS auditorium. Angst is an IndieFlex original documentary designed to raise awareness around anxiety. Please visit ANGSTMOVIE.com for more information.
  • All schools in the District will participate in the Great Kindness Challenge Week, beginning on Jan. 28.
