MEDINA, Ohio – The Medina Bees notched seven unanswered goals in the second half, as the Pirates fell, 10-1, on Friday night.

Rocky River (8-6) tallied its lone goal midway through the first quarter when midfielder Jack Aerni found the back of the net. With a taut defense and several big saves by junior netminder Chris Welch, the Pirates went into halftime embroiled in a close game with Medina (10-5).

But the Bees came out strong in the third quarter, upping their lead to five goals (6-1) by the midpoint of the period. Medina would score three more times in the third and then once more in the fourth to close out the home-field victory.

For the game, Rocky River was credited with just eight shots on goal, the team’s lowest in any game over the past two seasons. The Pirates went 0-for-5 in man-up situations and are now 0-for-their-last-9 with an extra attacker.
