RRHS Students Earn Scholastic Art Awards

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Three Rocky River High School students combined to earn six honors in the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Freshman Grace Hubbard received a Gold Key Award in Photography for her piece “Looking Out” and also earned Honorable Mention Awards in Photography for her works titled “Trance” and “Cherry Cola”.

Freshman Paige Kurtz-Carney received a Gold Key Award in Photography for “Broken” and was also awarded an Honorable Mention recognition in Photography for “Amateur Skater”.

Senior Joshua O’Halla claimed a Gold Key Award for his Ceramics and Glass piece, “Crocodile Mask”.

All Gold Key Award winners at the regional level will advance to be judged at the national level.

This year’s regional winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on January 18, 2020 at the Cleveland Institute of Art and their work will be on display at the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Reinberger Gallery from January 21-31 as part of the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Exhibition, which will feature artwork from local artists in grades 7-12 who participated in the competition.
