Heath Horton to Serve as Principal of Kensington Intermediate School Beginning With 2021-2022 School Year

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Mr. Heath Horton, who is currently an assistant principal at Rocky River High School, will begin serving as Principal of Kensington Intermediate School on August 1, 2021. Horton will take over for Mr. Todd Murphy, who is retiring as Kensington principal effective July 30, 2021.

 

Horton has more than 15 years of administrative and teaching experience, including the last four years (2017-2021) as an assistant principal at Rocky River High School (RRHS). Prior to serving at RRHS, Horton was an assistant principal at Brooklyn High School from 2012-2017 and was a Language Arts teacher in the South Euclid/Lyndhurst City Schools from 2006-2012.

  

“I am excited for this new opportunity and am looking forward to leading the students and staff at Kensington Intermediate School,” Horton said. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in the role of assistant principal at Rocky River High School for the last four years and I look forward to continuing to build on the tradition of excellence that has been built and established at Kensington.”

 

“Mr. Horton brings a wide array of knowledge and experience to this leadership role,” RRCSD Superintendent Michael Shoaf said. “He has been very successful in his role as assistant principal at the high school and we are confident that his leadership abilities will continue to result in exceptional opportunities for every student served at Kensington.”

 

Horton earned his Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education from Kent State University and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University. Horton holds his Superintendent’s License from Cleveland State University and is currently working toward his Doctorate in Educational Administration from The University of Findlay.
