November 11 Communication

November 11, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The 2020-2021 school year has been different and it’s hard to believe that we are already approaching the holiday season. We are grateful for your support as students and families adapt and remain engaged during these trying times.

The district continues to operate in the Hybrid (Yellow) Instructional model and we have worked to make adjustments and improvements, specifically for the schedules at Rocky River High School and Rocky River Middle School to increase instructional time. The revised Hybrid (Yellow) schedules at RRHS and RRMS will begin on Tuesday, November 17.

Linked below are the Open (Green), Hybrid (Yellow) and Closed (Red) instructional schedules for each school. These schedules will also be posted on the district website for your reference.

As we begin to look ahead to the second semester, the RRCSD is planning to transition to the Open (Green) instructional model on January 26, 2021, the first day of the second semester. The district will continue to offer online learning Option B for families who choose to not send their children to school for in-person instruction. Families are encouraged to review the schedules in order to make an informed decision when considering in-person learning or Option B for the second semester. A registration link for online learning Option B will be available and shared in early January.

Over the last eight months, information has changed on a daily and weekly basis and we will continue to monitor local, regional and national data with local health officials over the coming weeks. If the transition to Open (Green) needs to be delayed due to conditions related to COVID-19, we will communicate that to you.

Navigating through these times brings challenges and we must adhere to the key public health prevention strategies in order to reduce the chance for transmission of COVID-19, including:

  • A health and wellness check each morning before school
  • Staying home if you are sick
  • Wearing a face mask
  • Proper social distancing
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water
  • Hand sanitizing when soap and water are not available

Thank you for your continued support of the Rocky River City School District.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael G. Shoaf
Superintendent
