RRHS Student Earns Scholastic Art Honorable Mention Award

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River High School student Luca Rizi received an Honorable Mention Award in the Annual Greater Cleveland Scholastic Art & Writing Competition and Exhibition.

Rizi earned the award as part of the art category for his digital art piece titled Fury.

“I am extremely thankful to have received an Honorable Mention award,” Rizi said. “Fury is one of my digital artworks featuring a tiger and a wolf showcasing their emotions. I created this to show the passion and feelings of both subjects.”

Each year, the Cleveland Institute of Art hosts the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition to recognize creative achievement in area students in grades 7-12. The young artists and writers compete for cash prizes, medals, and scholarship awards. A panel of local professional artists, art educators, writers, and writing educators jury the exhibit and select the awarded pieces from nearly 3,000 entries.

This year’s regional winners will be honored at a virtual awards ceremony on January 30 and all regional winners will be displayed in an online exhibit.

Congratulations to Luca and his art teacher, Patty Tobin.
