River routs Rangers to remain unbeaten
Rori Vesy
LAKEWOOD, Ohio (Sept. 18, 2024) -- Rocky River clocked another blowout victory to remain unbeaten on the season, as the Pirates waxed the Lakewood Rangers 8-0 Wednesday.

Lakewood (1-6, 0-4 Cleveland West Conference) was held without a shot on goal in a match dominated by the Pirates (8-0-1, 3-0-1). Rocky River scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of play (Sophia Sindelar on both) and would file all eight of its netfinders in the first 50 minutes of action. The Checkered Buccaneers tied a season-high for goals (Sept. 4 vs. Valley Forge) with their Wednesday production.

Sindelar (three goals) and Grace Quaiser (2G) were River's top goal scorers. Mia Carney ledgered two assists.

The Rangers have now been blanked in four of their last five matches. They have also been shut out in four of their last five games against the Pirates.

River's next match is slated for Monday, when the Pirates host a non-league contest against Avon. The Pirates-Eagles tilt will mark the first of three straight home games for the Maroon & White.
