FAIRVIEW PARK (Sept. 3, 2024) -- Rocky River returned to the course for the first time in more-than-a-week, and in a Senior Day tri-match against Lake Erie Girls Golf Association foes Bay and North Olmsted, the Pirates had a seven-match win streak come to an end in a split with the Rockets and Eagles.
Playing at Big Met Golf Course on an idyllic afternoon along the wooded grounds near the Rocky River, the Pirates posted a score of 195. That finished 5 strokes behind the Rockets (190) and 26 shots ahead of the Eagles (221). Senior Mia Ginnetti posted a 39 to lead the Maroon & White.
The loss to Bay marked River's first setback in a match since Aug. 12 (Keystone).
Prior to the match, seniors Vivienne Bennett, Allie Dewey, Ginnetti, Caroline Kelly, and Julia Schmid were recognized for their contributions to Double-R Girls Golf.
The Pirates (9-2, 8-2 LEGGA) are slated to host an invitational tournament at Big Met Wednesday.
