Out-and-out rout: Raiders sink North Olmsted 9-0

Grace Quaiser

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2024) -- Seven Pirates found the back of the net, and Rocky River coasted to a 9-0 victory over North Olmsted in Wednesday night Cleveland West Conference action.

Sophia Sindelar revved the River engine with a 10-point night (three goals, four assists) in the non-competitive tilt at Rocky River Stadium. Sindelar, Morgan Burnett, Gemma Hartung, Ellie Holton, Grace Quaiser, Maria Rose, and Summer Seed were the Buccaneer goal scorers.

Sindelar's third goal of the evening, on a header off a Mia Carney in the 56th minute, marked her 25th of the season. The senior has scored multiple goals in four straight matches and has netted 29 points (10G, 9A) over that stretch.

Carney (3A) and Seed (2A) joined Sindelar with multiple assists in the walk-over against an Eagles (7-4-1, 2-2-1) squad held to just one shot. The goals by Hartung and Rose marked career firsts.

Rocky River (10-0-1, 4-0-1) figures to return to representative soccer action in its next contest. On Saturday, the Checkered Buccaneers will host a matinee tilt against Columbus Watterson. The MaxPreps Ohio High School Girls Soccer Rankings tab the game as a top-15 match-up: River is currently ranked No. 5 and the Eagles (9-1) are No. 14. Saturday's match at Rocky River Stadium is slated for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
