River NOLLs best: Pirates open league play with 18-8 win

RR Girls Lacrosse

BRUNSWICK, Ohio (March 21, 2023) -- Rocky River opened Northern Ohio Lacrosse League play with an 18-8 win at Brunswick Tuesday.

The Pirates (2-0, 1-0 NOLL) planted the first six goals of the contest and would lead the game wire-to-wire. River outscored the Blue Devils 8-3 in the opening half of play and 10-5 in the second.

Eight different players scored for the Maroon & White who were playing the front end of back-to-back road conference games (Thursday at Solon). Junior attacker Alexis Tisler, who scored the first three goals of the second half, was River's leading scorer on the evening. Tisler registered five goals and two assists.

Other goal scorers for Rocky River were Kaitlyn Byrne (3G), Grace DeWitt (3G, 1A), Lucy Kolonick (1G), Elle Mocho (2G), Mollie O'Brien (1G), Mackenzie Russell (1G), and Daisy Thompson (2G, 1A). O'Brien's netfinder -- a goal at 13:13 of the second half to vault River to a 14-4 lead -- marked the first of her career.

After losing to the Blue Devils 9-7 in 2021, Rocky River -- the defending NOLL champion -- has now defeated Brunswick by a combined margin of 37-8 across back-to-back wins.

The Pirates, which went 8-0 in earning the program's first conference title a year ago, have now won nine straight NOLL games. River has claimed double-digit margins of victory in six of those nine wins.
