November 14, 2022

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Schools throughout the Rocky River City School District honored and recognized veterans in special ways to help celebrate Veterans Day.

Beach Preschool students shared pictures of family members who served in the military and also watched a presentation about the different military branches. At Goldwood, students watched videos to learn about Veterans Day, decorated flags to display in the Goldwood Room and made cards for veterans at local nursing homes. Students will also attend a Veterans Day assembly on Friday, November 19.

Kensington students continued their tradition of lining the tree lawn in front of the school with American flags and also hung a banner on the outside of the building thanking veterans. Students also learned what is means to be a veteran and the five branches that make up the military.

At RRMS, 8th graders discussed the history behind Veterans Day and watched a video about Stan Orr, a veteran who flew bombers during World War II. Orr is the great uncle of a former RRMS tutor. The 7th grade students watched a video that honored veterans and learned how to fold the American flag and the significance behind it, while 6th grade students were shown military momentos and images of famous war memorials.

RRHS students watched videos to learn about the history and tradition of Veterans Day.
