RRHS Drama Club Earns Dazzle Awards, Including Best Musical

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – The Rocky River High School Drama Department’s spring musical production of Young Frankenstein won three Dazzle Awards that were presented on Saturday evening at the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square.

 

The group won Best Musical (Tier 1) for the fifth consecutive time and has won this category each year it has been awarded. RRHS previously won the award for Catch Me if You Can (2016), Legally Blonde (2017), Monty Python’s Spamalot (2018) and Singin’ in the Rain (2019).  The category was not awarded in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19.


RRHS also won a Dazzle Award for Best Technical Execution, while freshman Max Lucic was awarded Best Supporting Actor for his performance as “The Monster”.

 

In addition, RRHS was nominated for Dazzle Awards in the categories of Best Student Orchestra, Best Costume Design, Best Choreography Execution and Best Ensemble/Chorus. London Golya and Carter Sindelar were also nominees in the Best Supporting Action category. Golya portrayed ‘Inspector Kemp’ in the production and Sindelar was ‘The Herald/Victor von Frankenstein/The Hermit’.

 

The Dazzle Awards presented by Patricia and John Chapman recognize and showcase the most talented high school musical theater performers in Northeast Ohio and culminates the annual Dazzle Awards program. A panel of judges attend one production at each participating school, provide feedback and determine nominees and awards for participating schools
