Over the Falls: Pirates plunder Chagrin 1-0

RR Boys Soccer

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Oct. 3, 2022) -- The Pirates earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chagrin Falls in Monday night non-conference action at Rocky River Stadium.

The lone goal of the match was scored by sophomore Vincent Anthony, who in the 66th minute took a cross-field pass from Charlie Russell, beat a Tiger defender to a settled ball, and rifled a 15-yard shot that found twine.

The goal marked the first of Anthony's career. It lifter the Pirates (4-5-4) to a second straight victory for the first time since Oct. 13-16 last season. The triumph -- River's first over the Tigers since 2017 -- marks the Pirates' third in their last four matches.

Will DeClerck made five saves in Monday's win.

Rocky River will close out a busy stretch of three home games in five days when the squads hosts the Westlake Demons in a Great Lakes Conference match Wednesday at 7 p.m.
