ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River High School students earned 23 awards in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional contest. The group combined to receive three Gold Key Awards, five Silver Key Awards and 15 Honorable Mention Awards.
Individually, Flint Slankard and Zoe Satayathum – both art school bound seniors – had art portfolios selected into Scholastic this year. Satayathum’s portfolio was selected as a Gold Key, while Slankard was honored with a Silver Key.

This year, the Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, University of Iowa, in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers conducted the regional art and writing competitions. Students who receive Gold Key Awards for individual works and portfolios continue to the national competition held each spring in New York City.
