ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Nov. 17, 2024) -- Rocky River lifted the lid on its 2024-25 season by going an even 1-1-1 across three games in the weekend Tim Alexander Memorial Tournament at Hamilton Ice Arena.
In Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games, the Pirates (in order) tied St. Ignatius White 1-1, defeated Oregon Clay 5-1, and lost to Canton-Akron Hockey Club 7-0. River placed fifth in its eight-team, season-opening tournament on home ice. The Canton-Akron Jets went 3-0 and scored 14-1/2 points to win the period-points-scored event. Team Ohio (2-1, 11 points) finished as the tournament runner-up.
Junior winger Cash Kohler (two goals, assist), junior center Lucas Konopka (2G), junior winger Dominic Kovi (2A), and junior defenseman Noah Opdycke (3A) were the Pirates' top point producers over the weekend.
Rocky River (1-1-1) will continue its season with a Tuesday road game at Amherst (7:15 p.m.).

MEET THE BUCCANEERS: The 2024-25 edition of Pirate Hockey returns two of the top seven scorers from a season ago when the Double-R went 18-9-1. This year's captain is three-year letterman and senior Dominic Ricketti, who registered 16G and 6A last season. Konopka and Opdycke serve as assistant captains.
