Eight RRHS Students Participate in OMEA District IV and VII Honors Band

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - Eight students from the Rocky River HS Band represented the school at the Ohio Music Educators Association Honors Bands that performed last weekend at the OMEA District IV and VII Honors Music Festival hosted by Cleveland State University. Students were selected from bands across Northern Ohio.

The eight students who represented RRHS were Erin Raynewater (flute), Emma Downing (oboe), Grace Suhadolnki (clarinet), Adam Hackett (bass clarinet), Joe Gifford (tenor sax), Jack Sieputowski (trumpet), Paulina Bucaro (percussion) and John Sandy (percussion).

They were nominated by Band Director Mr. Kirk Taylor and then accepted by the OMEA District IV and VII Honors Band Committee.

To be nominated the students had to be considered among the top players within the school and agree to the extensive rehearsal and performance schedule.

OMEA has two honor bands, each conducted by a nationally known college band director who also serves as a clinician.
