HINCKLEY, Ohio – Rocky River Boys’ Golf closed out its 2019 season on Monday. The Pirates placed 15th of 20 teams in the Division I Boys’ Golf Northeast District Tournament.

River posted a four-man score of 338 over the 6,600-yard, par-72 course at Pine Hill Golf Club. Befitting the squad’s depth and consistency of scoring in the low-to-mid 80s, the team’s four counting scores could be covered by a golf towel.

Will Bennett led the way with an 83. Carlo Fricano – who had carded a 78 at Pine Hills on Aug. 5 – shot an 84. Hayden Weaver fired an 85. Ethan Mylett carded an 86, edging fellow senior Mac Milenius (87) for the fourth and final slot in a round that marked an end to their prep careers.

St. Ignatius logged a four-man score of 290 to lead the list of four qualifying teams (Hoban, Walsh, Brunswick) now headed to the state championship in Columbus (Ohio State University Scarlet Course, Oct. 18-19). The Wildcats’ Andrew Wyss was Monday’s medalist, carding a 5-under 67.

“I’m proud of this group,” said Head Coach David Hendrickson of his 2019 Great Lakes Conference champion team. “They always support each other and give their best.”
