ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Michael Chernus,
a 1995 graduate of Rocky River High School (RRHS) and a
notable film, stage and television actor, will speak at RRHS on
Saturday, September 28, from 11:00am until 12:00pm in the Auditorium.
Students, staff, parents and guardians and community members are welcome to attend the talk and Q&A session.
Chernus will be in
town to be inducted into the Rocky River High
School Sports and Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame during Homecoming
weekend.
Chernus
has enjoyed success on the big screen, on television and on the stage. He is
perhaps best known for his role as Cal Chapman on the Netflix original
comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black. Chernus played Phineas
Mason/Tinkerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man:
Homecoming, and played opposite Tom Hanks as Chief-Mate Shane Murphy in the
Oscar-nominated film, Captain Phillips.
He
also played Pastor C on the acclaimed Showtime series, The Big C,
and appeared on several other TV shows including, Damages, The
New Normal, Nashville, The Good Wife, Elementary, Royal
Pains and Law & Order: SVU.
An accomplished stage
actor, Chernus won a 2011 Obie Award and received a Lucille Lortel Award
nomination for his performance in Lisa Kron’s In the
Wake at The Public Theater in New York City.
