AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Rocky River Track & Field athletes competed in the Avon Lake Invitational on Saturday. [results]

The Pirates posted solid numbers in what was a big-field, early-season event populated by many top teams in Northeast Ohio. Rocky River was particularly strong in the meet's distance running events.

On the boys' side, Luke Kishna earned fifth-place points in the 3,200-meter run. Kishna was also in on a fifth-place relay, the 4x800 alongside Majid Abuaun, Luke Dorenkott, and Grant Preto.

The River girls also took fifth in their 4x8 as well. Sam Coleman, Julia Mafrici, Saraa Abuzahrieh, and Keira Vesy circuited the baton in 10:19.52 to earn that five-pointer. Coleman also logged a runner-up finish in the 1600; Vesy did likewise in the 800.

The Pirate boys team carded nine points on the day which placed them 15th. The girls earned 26 points, a total good for 12th.
