Bell Invitational Dedicated to Laura Brabant
Laura Brabant graduated from Bay High school and received her Bachelor Degree from Wittenberg University. She has been a teacher in the Rocky River schools since 1992, teaching Mathematics at the Middle School level. She was Rocky River “Teacher of the Year” in 2012. She served as Varsity XC assistant coach for a combined boys & girls program for 5 years before taking the reigns as Head Girls XC Coach in 1998. Since then, she has led the girls’ team to unprecedented success in the annals of Rocky River athletics!

During her tenure as Head Girls Coach, her XC teams have achieved the following:

· 9 Conference Championships
· 7 District Championships
· 3 Regional Championships
· 1 Regional Runner-up
· 8 State Meet appearances as a team (3rd place finish in 2010)

During her tenure as Head Girls XC Coach, individuals running under her direction have achieved the following:

· 66 runners qualified for the XC State Meet
· 10 runners achieved All-Ohio status (one State Runner-up)
· 10 runners were Conference XC Champions and MVPs
· 11 Individual District Champions
· 8 of the top 10 fastest River girls’ XC times
· 7 of her runners have gone on to become Track or XC coaches

In 1996, Coach Brabant also co-chaired a fundraising effort to create the Rocky River XC Scholarship for graduating runners, which became the Moriah Lydon Memorial Scholarship in 2002.
