Pirate pars beat Eagles at Red Tail
RR Boys' Golf
AVON, Ohio -- Rocky River closed out its regular season in style, earning a 166-180 victory over St. Edward (Green) on Tuesday.

A solid all-around effort included six Pirate scores between 41-44 over the outward nine at the par-36, 3,213-yard Red Tail Golf Club. Rocky River's four counting scores were logged by senior Will Bennett (41), freshman Luke Dietrich (41), senior Hayden Weaver (42) and senior Aidan McDonald (42).

Bennett's round included one of River's few birdies on a day when Red Tail's primary defense of par was the tangled wet rough bracketing fairways after heavy rains Monday evening. The Pirate senior -- fresh off winning Great Lakes Conference MVP honors with a medalist performance in the league's title event on Sept. 24 -- carded an impressive birdie on the par-5 sixth. Bennett closed out his regular season with a stroke average of 81.4.

Rocky River (23-3) now begins with preparations for postseason play. The Pirates will compete in a sectional tournament on Monday.
