Team Techno Bunnies competed in the service learning challenge “Inside Impact” where they creatively presented their service project to provide shower supplies for the homeless. Techno Bunnies consists of team members: 8th graders Dasara, Sophia, and, 7th grader Anna. This team also earned the Torchbearer Award given to a team “whose solutions have extraordinary impact in and beyond their local communities.”
Team Magna Virtue competed in the scientific challenge “Unlikely Attraction” where they presented their amusement park attraction that used three scientific principals in its operation. The team members are 7th grader Hugo and Kensington 5th grader, Beatrix. Magna Virtue also earned a Renaissance Award as a team “ who demonstrates extraordinary amounts of effort and preparation in their solutions or outstanding skill in engineering, design, and performance.”
Team Despicito Imaginito, competing in the improvisational challenge, earned third place. Team members were 7thgraders Adam, Darren, and Gabe. Team Frenando’s Flying Narwhals, also competing in this challenge, placed fourth. Team members included 6th graders Luke and Nathan and Kensington 5th graders Tom, Evan and Gigi. Quick-thinking and keen wit allowed these teams to place high in a crowded field of competition.
The state level competition will take place on March 24, 2018 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Teams who earn top spots at the state level have the opportunity to move onto Global Finals in May.
