RRCSD Earns Music Education Award

The Rocky River City School District earned a 2018 Best Communities for Music Education award for its commitment to music education – the second consecutive award for the school district.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. The award recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who make music education part of a well-rounded education.

To qualify, Rocky River answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music programs, and community music-making programs.

“It is important to us to provide quality programming for students in addition to the four core subjects,” said Assistant Superintendent Elizabeth Anderson. “Our NAMM BCME recognition for a second year in a row verifies what many already know – music education is outstanding in Rocky River.”
