Pirates sunk by Buckeye
RR Softball
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Rocky River was upended by Buckeye, 14-0, in a Great Lakes Conference home game on Thursday.

The Bucks scored two, three, and nine runs, respectively, over the first three innings, and strong pitching shut down a Pirate nine which hadn't played a game in eight days.

Maggie Hill and Colleen Meese pitched for River. The Pirates were outhit, 19-4, in the five-frame, run-rule affair. The contest marked the second time this season River has been shut out (April 3 vs. Padua Franciscan), and it snapped a four-game Rocky River win streak.

Catcher Katie Mommers went 2-for-3 to pace the Pirate offense.
