SCIENCE 6 NOTES - THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD
Scientific Method : One way to solve a science problem
1.) Problem : Asks a question (which keeps my chocolate hotter, paper or Styrofoam?)
2.) Hypothesis : An educated guess that answers the problem.
3.) Experiment : Design to test your hypothesis
4.) Procedure: The steps you take to carry out the experiment.
5.) Data: Numbers from the experiment (observing)
6.) Conclusion : Using your data, did I answer the problem I was asking?
7.) Variable: Any change that happens
8.) Independent Variable : The part of the experiment that the experimenter changes.
9.) Dependent Variable: The part of the experiment that changes BECAUSE of what the experimenter changed.
10.)Experimental group: The variable that the experimenter tests.
11.)Controlled variables: Everything that stays the same in the experiment.
12.)Control Group: The group or part of the experiment that is NORMAL.
13.) Levels: The different types of the independent variable.
