Rocky River Board of Education and Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Chapter 381 Agree on New Contract

On Wednesday, April 2, 2014 the Rocky River Board of Education voted to approve a new three-year contract with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Chapter 381 (O.A.P.S.E.), which will be in effect from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2017. O.A.P.S.E. members voted to ratify the new contract on Thursday, March 27, 2014.

The agreement met the long-term fiscal goals of the Board of Education by providing a 1.75% yearly increase on the salary base. The District will realize savings with an increase in employee healthcare premium contributions and plan design changes.

O.A.P.S.E. Local 381 president Joan Zeager said, “I am pleased to report that our Union was able to reach a mutually agreeable settlement with the Rocky River Board of Education. We feel the new contract is fair to our members and will benefit the high standard of education provided for the children of the Rocky River community. We look forward to serving the students and being a part of the Rocky River Education team.”

“In all contract negotiations, our goal is to be consistent and protect the integrity of the district and the tax payers’ money, both long and short term,” said Rocky River Board of Education president Jay Milano. “This contract recognizes the contributions of our classified staff members who work to maintain our buildings, transport our students, provide nutritious meals and ensure that our schools and offices run smoothly.”
