Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit Haunts Rocky River High School This Weekend

Rocky River High School drama students present Noel Coward’s beloved comedy, Blithe Spirit, on Friday, November 21 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, November 22 at 7:30 PM in the Rocky River High School Auditorium.

Blithe Spirit follows the adventures of Charles, a writer who hires a spiritual medium. Charles is not a believer in such things—he’s only researching for a book—but he, his wife, and their friends are in for an other-worldly surprise at the séance. The medium, Madame Arcati, accidentally conjures up the spirit of Charles’ deceased former wife, Elvira. The comedic catch? Charles is the only one who can see her.

The script has challenged the actors with its sharp dialogue and staging,” explains Drama Adviser Jennifer Garver, who is also an English nd Broadcasting teacher at the high school. “It also presents a new opportunity to members of the crew, with the costume and makeup needs of several of the characters.”

The crew consists of over a dozen RRHS students, who have assisted with set construction, publicity, and props, and who will run the house lights during the show.

There are seven students in the cast: Stuart Taylor, Katie Paull, Bella Olivo, Lucy Bowers, Eric Hansen, Maria Klek, and Joelle Fleming. Says Ms. Garver, “The actors have worked hard to develop the voices and movements of their characters and to understand the relationships their characters have with all the other ones.”

Tickets for Blithe Spirit are $7 for Adults, $5 for Students and free for Senior Citizens and Children 5 and under. For more information or to reserve seats, please call 440-356-6800.
