Honors Geometry Math Tournament

Rocky River High School and Rocky River Middle School Honors Geometry students competed in teams of four at the second annual Honors Geometry Math Tournament at the middle school.

Twenty-five high school freshmen joined 28 eighth graders in teams of four to solve 32 challenging math problems selected from the ACT, Air and Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics tests. Students applied Geometry concepts to solve challenging math problems in collaboration with other students.

Rocky River math teachers Joanne Ritschel, Brittany Morris and Debbie Pelger organized the tournament to help students gain exposure and develop skills in solving problems they encounter on high-stakes tests they will be taking in the future.

The first-place team of high school students Sarah Farling and Holli Statler, and middle school students Danny Swingos and Joey Weixel, won Rocky River Mathlete T-shirts. The second-place team was comprised of high school students Joey Vonnaci and Arnaud Carroll, and middle school students Taylor Byall and Erin Eckman.
