The Varsity Baseball Team went 2-1 in a bitter sweet week. The Pirates started out on a high note with a tough 4-3 win over always competitive Midview. Behind a gritty pitching performance by Senior Tyler Scott, the boys came up with some timely hitting by Senior Greg Soltes, Junior Killian Hollo, & Sophomore Justin Seffernick.
The Pirates went 3-3 on the week. Three out of conferences losses (Saint Ignatius and a doubleheader sweep by Avon Lake) deterred from an otherwise good basaeball week for the boys. The Varsity Baseball Team went 3-0 in the conference to improve to 7-2 in the WSC and 10-9 overall.

Next week provides some tough games for the varsity boys.

This past week the junior varsity team won 2 games and lost 3. The week started with a 2-0 victory at Firelands. Greg Lasher and Alex Chamberlin combined to pitch the shutout. They struck out 11 hitters and allowed only 2 hits over 7 innings. Jon Smith and Nick Van Atta each had 2 hits to lead the offense. On Thursday the JV team lost at North Ridgeville. On Friday, the team rebounded to defeat rival Fairview 14-1. Bobbie Neundorfer pitched a complete game to earn the victory. He struck out 7 in 5 innings of work. AJ Snyder had 3 hits, Matt Shaver knocked in 3 runs, and Greg Lasher and Matt Kadlec each had 2 rbi’s to lead the Pirate’s offense. On Saturday the team lost 2 games at Avon Lake. The Pirates lost the first game 9-8. Sean McDermott led the offense with 3 hits and 3 rbi’s. The JV team lost the second game 14-5. Zach Hollo, Jon Smith, and Max Barrow each had 2 hits to lead the offense. The junior varsity team is now 7-8 on the season and 6-3 in the West Shore Conference.

During the week of May 3rd the freshman went 1-2.  They started off the week with a 12-2 loss against Avon.  Matt Kadlec had 2 of the teams 6 hits on the day.  On Tuesday the boys traveled to Vermillion and the bats came alive with a 10-1 victory.  Sam Sheehan, Brendan Palker and Matt Kadlec lead the way with 2 hits each.  Matt kadlec pitched his second complete game of the year striking out 8.  On Wednesday the boys lost a tough game against Midview 7-6.  Sam Sheehan pitched 4 solid innings giving up only 1 hit.  Keelan Boetchter led the way with 3 hits, while Rob Hendricks and Pat O'Brien added 2 hits each.  The freshman enter the final week at 9-9 overall.
