5-8
The Varsity Baseball Team went 4-1 on the week rising to the challenge of a very tough week. The Pirates started the week by scoring a huge win over WSC rival Avon. A weather delayed game kept the Pirates from finishing the job early, but it didn't prevent them from avenging a previous loss to the Eagles.

Next, they played host to Midview, which ironically, did the Pirates a favor by knocking off previously unbeaten Vermilion to set up a first place show down on Thursday. The boys stayed focused through a tough Middies battle and came out on top 6-5. Midview will be a challenge for the Pirates as they sport a young club ripe for a rise to the top of the WSC.

Thursday was a showdown for first place as Vermilion entered the game 10-1 and Rocky River entered at 9-2. A Pirate victory would have forced a 1st place tie. Unfortunately, the Sailors showed up with their "A" game and capitalized on several Pirate errors to drop the boys to 9-3 in the WSC and 12-10 overall.

The weekend was good to the Fella's as they battled through tough wins against Lakewood and Eastlake North.

Sectional play begins this week with the boys meeting Bay and the winner advancing to play Vermilion.

The junior varsity team had a tough week suffering four losses. The week started with an 11-8 loss against Avon at All Pro Stadium. Jon Smith led the offense with 3 hits and 3 rbi’s. Cory Almady and Sean McDermott pitched well in a defeat against Midview on Wednesday, but poor defense led to the loss. On Thursday, the Pirates lost to an improved Vermilion team. Sean McDermott led the offense with 2 hits. The week ended with a loss to Lakewood. Nick Van Atta had two hits for the team. After this week the junior varsity team has dropped to 7-13 overall and 6-7 in the conference.
