Rocky River Early Achievement Mission Statement:
To ensure that all children with special needs are provided the opportunity for a free and appropriate preschool education within their community that promotes growth, development and success across all skill areas.
What We Do:
Our preschool program focuses on the essential dimensions of early development and learning which are: physical growth and motor development; social-emotional development; language development; cognition and general knowledge, and self help skills. We believe that children learn best through play and social peer interactions.
Who We Serve:
REACH Preschool services children with disabilities ages three through six who live in Rocky River, Ohio. We offer an inclusive environment for learning with typically developing peers ages four to six who also live in Rocky River, Ohio.
Our Staff:
The Reach preschool team is made up of an intervention specialist, who serves as the classroom teacher, an occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech language pathologist, school psychologist, and classroom assistants.
Admission:
The Rocky River Early Achievement Program provides services for children ages 3-6 with identified developmental delays or developmental disabilities using the evaluation and determination procedures as outlined by Ohio Model Policies and Procedures for preschool age children. Screening for suspected preschoolers with disabilities are completed through Play Based Evaluations held once a month during the school year by the REACH Team. Peer models are chosen after the Reach Team conducts a preschool screening in spring of each school year. Families interested in the program may apply by contacting the Learning Resource Services department. There will be no more than 6 peers in each class following the Ohio Department of Early Childhood Education Model of 6 children with special needs to 6 peer models.
Class Schedule:
Classes meet for two and a half hour sessions four days per week.
Class times are from
8:45 -11:15 A.M. and 12:15 - 2:45 P.M. Monday through Thursday following the Rocky River School Board adapted calendar.
