Updates
All woodwind students (clarinet and saxophone) must be playing on
2-1/2 strength reeds
as of 3/12/12. Mr. Hudec and Mr. Taylor will be conducting reed checks during class.
The
practice records
are now located in the "downloads" section of this website. The new format is Monday through Sunday rather than Sunday through Saturday (like the ones in the front of the method books). Students should plan to turn in a practice record on their assigned sectional day (Mon - Thurs) for each week.
All
sheet music
must be kept in the band folder rather than "stuffed" in a method's book. It is also suggested that the method book be kept in the folder as well.
5th Grade Band
Throughout the school year, 5th grade students have the
opportunity
to receive instruction on the following
instruments:
flute
clarinet
saxophone
trumpet (cornet)
trombone
baritone
percussion (mallets and drums).
Instrumental classes meet twice a week during the student
lunch/recess
time and do not interfere with other classes
the
students are taking.
Participation in the 5th grade band
not
only enhances cognition and learning
across the
curriculum,
but it also enables your child to participate in
future
instrumental music classes at the middle school,
high
school
and beyond.
